Lauren Moomaw, Founder/President

Lauren is a Portland native with a great appreciation for the city’s innovative and community-minded spirit. While studying Community Development and Business at PSU, she co-founded Taborspace with Carley Friesen (Pastor, MTPC) in June of 2009. Taborspace rapidly grew, and the vision to share the successful collaborative model soon arose. In January of 2015 she founded Revive Community Commons. After having worked broadly in community development and business management as Taborspace’s Program Director for 7 years, she made a career transition in 2016 to focus more specifically on financial management. She currently works for Earthtones Music Therapy as their Chief Financial Officer.

Thomas McElhinny, Vice President

Thomas is a third generation Oregonian and Oregon State University alumnus. He came to Revive through his time volunteering at Taborspace. Thomas works as a technical writer in the semiconductor capital equipment industry. Outside of work and volunteering, you are likely to find him preparing for, and participating in, transformational festivals or enjoying a meal with loved ones.

Jessica Taylor Foster, Secretary

As web designer/developer and consultant, Jessica works with a wide range of clients, from independent professionals, artists, and small businesses to firms and nonprofits. She values creative collaboration and enabling others to bring their ideas and work into the world, both of which inform her work with and for Revive. Jessica is a graduate of Brown University and lives in Southeast Portland.

David James Robinson, Director

David is an attorney practicing in estate planning, business transactions and tax planning strategy. He opened his practice in 2014 with the intention to lower the barriers to access an attorney and promote environmental responsibility. To that end, his law firm is paper-free, cloud-based, and mobile. He visits clients in their home or workplace, spends the time it takes to help clients understand the law, and delivers a user-friendly work product. When he isn’t practicing law for money he donates his attorney services to nonprofits. He is a multi-sport athlete and a full-time bicyclist.

Tom Mattox, Communications & Education Coordinator

Tom Mattox is an artist who loves Portland's vibrant sense of community. He has extensive experience in community journalism, community education, and the co-operative movement. As a volunteer he is working to develop the capacity of Revive through fundraising and making connections.

Carley Friesen

Carley Friesen has been the pastor at Mt Tabor Presbyterian Church for 16 years, helping the congregation rebuild its community connection. She has been a Presbyterian pastor leading churches in transition for 30 years. She co-founded Taborspace in June of 2009 with the hope of reestablishing the historic building as a community hub. Taborspace now hosts thousands of people every week who engage in music, art, healing and connection.

Maggie Maggio

Maggie Maggio is an architectural designer, artist and art educator who has studied and played with color for over forty years. Her personal explorations into the science of light and pigments led to the creation of Smashing Color workshops for artists and designers. Maggie retired from architecture in 2015 and now focuses her time on guiding artists and designers in their explorations of the world of color and researching how color concepts are taught to children world-wide.

Ashley Marcu

Ashley Marcu is a native Oregonian, graphic designer and multidisciplinary creative. Upon graduating from George Fox University, she moved to the Mt. Tabor neighborhood in 2010 where she stumbled upon Taborspace in its inaugural week. Capturing the vision, she became a volunteer in the Coffee Shop and soon came on as Events Program Coordinator. After 5 years working closely with the founders to develop and refine Taborspace’s mission and programming, she joined Revive's Board of Directors. In 2016 she shifted to pursue a full time career in freelance design, but continues involvement as an Advisory member and resident designer.
